About Me

Hi

I’m Sara - a psychotherapist and counsellor, a mum of three, and before becoming a therapist I worked as a teacher and school governor for over twenty years.

My approach to therapy is warm, grounded and compassionate. I work integratively, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches according to your needs. This can include mindfulness, cognitive behavioural strategies, positive psychology and EMDR, while always keeping our relationship at the centre of our work together.

I believe therapy is about feeling heard and understood. I listen deeply, without judgement, and where helpful I may gently challenge patterns that no longer serve you. 

I’m only too aware that life can throw experiences at us which shape us in ways we never expected.  My own experiences have given me a deep understanding of how difficult life can sometimes feel. I understand something of the impact of anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, health challenges, neurodivergence, and times when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. Alongside my own lived experiences, I have over 1,500 hours of therapeutic work supporting clients through many different challenges.

I always provide a calm, confidential space where you can breathe, slow down, and feel supported again - no pressure, no judgement and together we can find a way to better times.

I have particular experience supporting adults and young people living with anxiety, including the ways anxiety can affect everyday life. I have also worked extensively with young women and girls who are autistic or who identify with autistic traits.

When you work with me, we can begin to understand what may be keeping you feeling stuck and find ways to reduce the impact this is having on your life.  We can help you move towards greater calm and a stronger sense of connection with yourself.

You can feel confident that my qualifications and practice are client-centred, supervised and safe.  

 

I regularly undertake extra training and I also attend regular supervision to support me in giving my clients the

best possible service.
